Commercial break, enter and theft in Bon Accord

Morinville RCMP responded to a commercial alarm at Chelsea’s pub Dec. 10 at approximately 5:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers observed extensive damage to the front door of the business. Subsequent investigation revealed that unknown individual(s) backed up a truck to the front door, knocking the pane of glass off. An undisclosed amount of alcohol was subsequently stolen from the pub.

It is believed the truck used in this incident was stolen minutes prior near 45 Street and 53 Avenue in Bon Accord. The stolen truck is described as a 1996 light brown Chevrolet GMT 400. It has not been recovered yet.

Impaired driving charges

On Dec. 7 at approximately 6:40 p.m. a concerned motorist contacted the RCMP about a vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 2 north of Legal. Morinville RCMP officers located the suspect vehicle, a Pontiac Montana, at the Esso gas station located on Highway 2 at the intersection with secondary Highway 651. Upon arrival, it was determined the driver of the Pontiac Montana was intoxicated by alcohol. The driver was arrested, and breath samples indicated he was over the legal limit. The driver, a 37-year-old male from Fort Mackay, was charged with impaired driving, driving over the legal limit and driving while suspended.

On Dec. 9 at approximately 10:50 p.m., Morinville RCMP were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 28 A at the intersection with Highway 28. Upon arrival it was determined that a Chevrolet Impala went off the road and that the female driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was intoxicated by alcohol. The driver, a 47-year-old female from Redwater, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving over the limit. No injuries were reported.

A little later that evening, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Morinville RCMP were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 2 at Township Road 552. On arrival, RCMP officers observed a white Honda Civic in the ditch. RCMP officers present determined the driver of the Honda Civic, a 24-year-old female from Edmonton, was intoxicated by alcohol. The female was arrested and failed to provide a breath sample when asked to do so. The female was charged with failure to provide a breath sample.

Theft of Catalytic Converters in Legal

Sometime between Dec. 3 and Dec. 7 unknown individual(s) stole five catalytic converters from the lot of Legal Motors.

Male injured while trying to help at a collision scene

On Dec. 10 at approximately 7:30 a.m. Morinville RCMP responded to a motor vehicle vs pedestrian collision on Highway 44, north of secondary Highway 633. Subsequent investigation revealed a male had stopped at the scene of a non-injury two-vehicle collision to see if he could help. The male was struck by a southbound Chevrolet Suburban. No emergency vehicles were on the scene at the time of the first collision. The 30-year-old male from Busby suffered a leg injury and was transported via ground ambulance to an Edmonton hospital.

This collision is still under investigation by the Morinville RCMP.
