It’s all over for us this Friday.

If the conspiracy folks are right about the Mayan calendar, then I guess we can use this editorial space to say our final goodbyes to all of you. If they aren’t right, and the world will be spinning into the New Year, then we say our goodbyes until the New Year.

Thursday night’s Community Christmas Celebration marks the official kick off to the Christmas season for many of us. It also marks the kick off to the Christmas break for The Morinville News.

This week is our final edition for 2012. Our offices will be closed from Dec. 20 until Jan. 2 – unless the world is ending – in which case it is going to be a short holiday for us.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our readers and advertisers for their support throughout 2012.

The next edition of The Morinville News is our Jan. 2 edition, our annual Year in Review publication. Much has happened in our community in 2012. We will start 2013 with a retrospective look back at the year that was.

Our online readers can read that Year in Review retrospective Dec. 27 to Dec. 30. Three months of recap will be published on each of those days.

On behalf of all of us involved in The Morinville News, we wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you in 2013…if the Mayans were wrong.
