Sturgeon County – An 83-year-old man was airlifted by Stars Air Ambulance Thursday morning after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 28 near Range Road 234 in Sturgeon County between Gibbons and Bon Accord.
Morinville RCMP and Sturgeon County Emergency Services responded to the collision around 11:30 a.m. Thursday and closed the highway in both directions.
Police say an eastbound Hyundai Accent was struck by an eastbound semi-truck. Preliminary RCMP investigation indicates the driver of the Hyundai Accent was in the process of making an illegal u-turn when the collision occurred. RCMP indicate visibility was greatly reduced because of foggy conditions at the time of collision.
The area of the collision was experiencing foggy conditions at the time and visibility was greatly reduced.
The driver and lone occupant of the semi truck didn’t suffer any injuries.
