Sturgeon County – Morinville RCMP have called off the search for a missing Sturgeon County woman after her body was discovered around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon in the Sturgeon County area. The investigation continues; however, police say that investigation is not criminal in nature.

The deceased, Roxanne Wolf (Pilgrim),age 42, had left her home Feb. 11 on foot, taking her cellphone and medications but leaving her purse behind. Her vehicle was found at the family home at the time she was reported missing. Police say she had left the home upset.

Constable Yelena Avoine said Thursday afternoon the RCMP are not giving further details on the investigation, but foul play is not suspected and the death does not appear to be suspicious in any way.

Morinville RCMP, assisted by the Edmonton Search and Rescue association, the RCMP police dog service, the RCMP police helicopter and Sturgeon County Emergency Services, conducted extensive ground searches Feb. 12 in the area where the deceased was last seen. The search bore no results and RCMP again turned to the public for assistance in locating the woman.

Mike Collet, a friend of the deceased living in B.C., is devastated by the loss of someone he worked with for 10 years.”She was a genuine person with a heart of gold,” Mr. Collet told Morinville News. “She is a retired military police officer who took pride in her job, family, friends – and taught in schools to help kids make the correct life choices when faced with drugs and alcohol. She taught DARE in school and was loved by all her students.”

In a press release issued Thursday evening, Morinville RCMP extended their thanks to the public for their support in the efforts to locate Ms. Wolf.
