The World Day of Prayer held Friday afternoon at Heritage Lodge was hosted by the United Church with Father Ignacy Warias of St Jean Baptiste Catholic Church, Mary Hittinger of Catholic Women’s League, Rev. Ecole Notre Dame Elementary School student Jordan Longman poses with some Franco-Albertan flags in front of the Morinville Town Hall Friday morning at the Franco-Albertan Flag Raising Ceremony. Barrhead-Morinville-Westlock MLA Maureen Kubinec, Mayor Paul Krauskopf, Notre Dame School Principal Marlene Pelletier and ACFA representative Andre Noel all spoke during the ceremony. The Notre Dame French Immersion Grade 1, 3 and 4 students sang two songs they practiced for the occasion. The ceremony is the start of the Rendez-Vous de la Francophonie, which is held from Mar. 8 to 24, bringing the country together in all types of activities and competitions promoting the French language and culture. – Lucie Roy Photo

The Franco-Albertan Flag Raising Ceremony took place in front of Town Hall Friday morning with Barrhead-Morinville-Westlock MLA Maureen Kubinec, Community Peace Officer Erik Nickolson and Mayor Paul Krauskopf assiting in the raising the flag.
