MCHS takes a pair of golds at music festival

Morinville Community High School (MCHS) students Sabrina Belland, Brooke Charland Tyler Troy, Brianna Borgen, Olivia Imbrogno, Emily Casavant and Lena Krause were each awarded a Gold Certificate Wednesday morning after their performance at the St Albert Rotary Music Festival.

They were registered under School Woodwind Ensemble Own Choice and performed a few pieces which Wendy Grasdahl, the band adjudicator described as “great chamber music.” Grasdahl said she was impressed with their love and dedication to music. The music group is overseen by MCHS Music teacher Corinna Cormier. The group have been practicing on their own and all take ownership of the music and performance.

This is the first time MCHS has had an Ensemble entry in the St. Albert Rotary Music Festival.

MCHS Band and Ensemble both performed at the Arden Theatre on Wednesday with the Band receiving a Gold Certificate. Cormier said the Band received the Gold Certificate last year as in previous years as well as the Distinction.


Students Dylan Thrussell on snare drum and Mason Melchert on bass drum were two of the 39 Morinville Community High School Band members performing at St Albert Rotary Festival at the Arden Theatre Wednesday. The Band received a Gold Certificate for their two performances under the direction of conductor Corinna Cormier.
