Morinville – Local students had the opportunity to experience jazz dance in two entertaining performances May 13. Calgary-based Decidedly Jazz Danceworks performed The Great Jazz History Mystery in two 45-minute school performances at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre. More than 500 students from Ecole Notre Dame Elementary School attended the two shows.

The production follows the world’s coolest sleuth as clues are sought after the world’s dancers lose their jazz. With the help from the Vibe, the sleuth’s mysterious and zany guide, as well as some tricks from the dancers themselves, the detective discovers jazz dance is closer than thought.

Decidedly Jazz Danceworks performed their first school show in 1985 and have been committed to sharing their love of jazz music and dance with students for the past 28 years. In addition to their travelling show, the dance company also offers residencies and workshops.
