Morinville – The Town of Morinville is once again recognizing its seniors by helping them keep up with their reading. Council voted unanimously in favour of once again footing the bill for any Morinville senior that takes out or renews their library card during Seniors’ Week.

Assistant Manager Cheryl Pasechnik said the library is grateful for the support Morinville has shown for its seniors. “They love it,” she said. “A lot of seniors are on fixed incomes and this is just something nice that shows them that we appreciate them and that they are special.”

In addition to the free card, seniors will be treated to a free coffee of tea when they come in for their card.

County seniors included

Sturgeon County has also long funded seniors’ library cards during Seniors’ Week. Library Manager Isabelle Cramp said Sturgeon County announced May 28 that they would be paying for County residents who take out library cards. The County’s generosity will run from June 3rd to June 17.

  1. At what age are people considered seniors? I have seen 55+, but back in the day 65+ was the standard.

    Could you please confirm.
