Morinville – Mayor Paul Krauskopf announced today that Premier Alison Redford will be coming to Morinville for the St. Jean Baptiste Festival. Premier Redford and MLA Maureen Kubinec will be participating in the annual parade this Saturday, June 22.

“We are delighted and honoured that Premier Redford is coming to join us for the St. Jean Baptiste Festival Parade. In my 15 years of serving on Council we have never had a Premier come out to Morinville. What an exciting time for our Town,” Krauskopf said in a release Tuesday.

Festival Chair Paul Smith is also pleased to welcome the premier. “The festival committee is thrilled that the premier will be present at the festival; it is the icing on the cake for all the hard work they put in. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Morinville for the warm and inviting community it is.”

The Parade will start at 10 a.m. with the procession beginning at the Sturgeon County Offices on 100 Street and 97A Avenue. It will travel north on 100 Street and then head west on 100 Avenue passing Morinville Town Hall. The parade route will then go south on 102 Street and make its way to 103 Street where it will end.

The St. Jean Baptiste Festival welcomes thousands of visitors to Morinville every year. The three-day event celebrating Morinville’s Community, Heritage, and Pride is anticipated to draw approximately 5,000 attendees over the three days.
