Morinville Jets prepping for season start

Morinville – The Morinville Jets will commence the 2013/2014 Capital Junior Hockey League pre-season in Morinville with a training camp and upcoming tournament.

The Junior B hockey club will take to the ice in Morinville Friday and Saturday night for days one and two of the four-day camp. Next week veterans and prospects will hit the ice Tuesday and Thursday night for the final two days. Club President Brent Melville has indicated all players will be guaranteed three skates. Cuts will happen after the third skate and each additional skate after that until the team is chosen.

Cost of the camp is $60 per player and all Midget players 1996 plus will require a tryout release form from their local minor hockey association.

Morinville will also play host to a pre-season tournament for the Jets Sept. 6 to 8. The club will take on the Leduc Riggers Sept. 6, Wetaskiwin Icemen Sept. 7 and the Stony Plain Flyers Sept. 8. Friday and Saturday game times are 8:45 p.m. The Sunday night game is at 6:45 p.m.

The Jets open the 2013/2014 regular season in St. Albert against the Merchants Sept. 20 and play their home opener Sept. 22 at 6:45 p.m. The Jets home game will be against the Wetaskiwin Icemen.
