Passing the bucks
On Monday night Ed Bishop Commanding Officer of the Morinville 3061 (1CER) Royal Canadian Army Cadets accepted a $1,500 cheque on behalf of the Corps from Morinville Lions Club member Francis Fryters.

Cotton candy dreams
Morinville & District Chamber of Commerce Administrative Assistant Maureen Sinclair was busy making 400 bags of cotton candy on Tuesday afternoon. The free bags will be handed out during the parade Saturday night.

And the band played on
Members of the Georges H. Primeau Grade 6 Semester Band performed four numbers under the direction of Nicole Baker at the Georges H. Primeau Grade 5 and 6 Final Concert Tuesday night.

Getting blood from a Councillor
Morinville Councillor Brennan Fitzgerald donated blood Tuesday afternoon during the Mobile Blood Donor Clinic held at the Rendez-Vous Centre. The next clinic will be Dec. 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre and Jan. 28 at the Rendez-Vous.

Stuff the tent
RV City Sales Consultant Joe Safadi and employee Jasmine Montpetit were busy stuffing the tent with items donated. RV City & Frontier Honda are collecting food items for the Annual Morinville Fill-A-Bus Campaign. RV City’s sales department is the main donation location for the Stuff-A-Tent. They are collecting non-perishables food, household items, grocery store cash cards and cash.

Tea time again
Julie Puchala poses at the new location of the Vintage Petals Tea House. Puchala and Noreen Radford were both on hand for the soft opening on Tuesday. They are located on 101 Street (Maisonneuve) behind Quinn’s Plumbing.

Deck the Town Hall
Morinville Public Works employee Matt Baty was working on the placement of the outdoor Christmas decorations on the front of the town hall building on Tuesday afternoon.

Tabs for chairs
Morinville Lions Club member Francis Fryters receives a bucket of pop can tabs from Sturgeon Heights student Tamara Deib while Principal Jonathan Konrad thanks her for her efforts. The tabs are being collected to raise funds for wheelchairs. The new principal has endorsed the project and ensured that it would continue. In his presentation Tuesday night, Fryters spoke of the previous collections of can tabs and how it was instrumental in two Morinville students each receiving vertical wheelchairs that help them to move around and be able to see others at eye level. With the assistance of her mother Sandy Deib, Tamara prepared a few notes and said it takes 12 pop tabs to make one ounce. To date they have collected more than 34 pounds of tabs, more than half of her body weight. Tamara said she collected tabs at her home, school, and had received many from Morinville residents. Sandy Weib said tabs from soup and tuna cans can be collected as they are all aluminum. Lion member Neil McDougall was also on hand for the presentation.
