Keep on trucking
HIS Trucking honoured one of their drivers recently. Allan Sherstan recently completed his 300th trip hauling fresh fish from Port Hardy, B.C. to Champion Petfoods in Morinville. “That is 600 two-hour ferry rides, mainland to island, also 600 times over the Coquihalla Highway in every kind of imaginable weather, sometimes twice in one week,” said HIS Trucking owner Jon Bucher, adding his drivers Larry, Greg, Will, Stan, and Tyler also know that trip very well. “So, to Al, we honour you. To us, that’s a milestone; to you, it’s just a day on the job.” – Submitted photo

snow problem
It’s snow problem at all
Town of Morinville Public Works staff work to clear snow from 99 Avenue Thursday morning. Heavy snowfalls early in the season have kept Public Works staff and equipment busy. The Town operates snow removal on a rotational basis. Ploughing is initiated once snow accumulations reach five centimetres or where drifts cause an unsafe driving environment. Priorities are main roads, walkways, trails, arterial roads, then residential streets and lanes. The town is broken into five sections and snow removal is on a rotational basis. For example, on the first snowfall, the rotation could be 1,2,3,4,5 and on the next snowfall 2,3,4,5,1, etc. – Morinville News photo
