The Christmas season is a time to stop and remember the important traditions, including fruitcake. Sit again with your children or friends, regardless of their age, and watch a Christmas cartoon! Here are the ones what I like.
1 Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1964). Burl Ives was such a great singer and he was great as the snowman in this cartoon. That was always my favourite part. Knowing that a great folk singer like Burl Ives could also have a second job as a cartoon snowman. What’s a singer like Justin Beiber gonna do for a cartoon? They don’t allow them kind of cartoons on the TV.
2 How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966). Boris Karloff was a great actor who made a lot of horror movies and was also the voice of the Grinch. He’s from the generation where horror movies were scary. Now they are just disgusting with people’s guts falling all over the screen. I realize that’s got nothing to do with the Grinch. I just got side tracked.
3 Frosty the Snowman (1969). This cartoon was a good one too and it was made when the kids was little. Then they made some sequels that no one has heard of. Everybody knows the song, but not a lot of people know a cowboy named Gene Autry was the first to record it.
4 A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965). If you do not want a Charlie Brown Christmas tree, then you better buy one from the Scouts over at Home Hardware. And I’ll repeat that in the grown-up voice from Charlie Brown. Wamp waaa, waaaa, wumpp waaa!
5 The Year Without Santa Claus is probably my favourite of all time. It’s the one where Santa gets sick and takes a holiday. So a couple elves try to do his job and make a mess of it because of a couple bad guys named Heat Miser and Snow Miser get to fighting in it and then Mother Nature comes to sort them out. It’s kind of like the Lord of the Rings, except Santa Claus is the old wizard in it.
