Bilingual Canadian heritage project coming to Morinville

by Morinville News staff

Edmonton – A youth-led tour promoting Canadian history and a sense of civic responsibility amongst middle and high school students will take place at Morinville Community High School Mar. 21 at 9 a.m. Called O Canada!, the bilingual touring performance will visit 30 Alberta schools and reach more than 4,000 students across the province over the next three months.

Canadian Parents for French (CPF) Alberta, a national network of parent volunteers dedicated to promoting and supporting quality and accessible French second language opportunities for all young Canadians, is excited about the upcoming show in Morinville.

“The O Canada! Tour is relatively unique as it aims to help develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of the contribution of the French culture to our heritage,” said CPF Alberta President Richard Slevinsky in a release Friday.

O Canada! is a pan-Canadian project that will ultimately reach 46,000 students across four provinces and one territory. The project is financially supported by the Canadian Heritage Youth Take Charge program and has been featured on Radio-Canada and CBC’s hit The George Strombo Show.
