Morinville Public Elementary School student Becky Martel was one of the students skipping classes for the jump rope on Friday afternoon after the school assembly. MPES teachers and students were outside and some in the gym skipping after it was announced at the assembly they had raised more than $9000 in their Jump Rope for Heart, Heart & Stroke Foundation fundraiser.

Principal Wayne Rufiange said they had a goal of raising $1000. Renee Thomson said they started the fundraiser April 10 and it ended Thursday. They had formed a Skipping Club and skipped during lunch and recess and the Grade 3 students taught Kindergarten students a few tricks about skipping.

MPES Grade 1 students gathered Friday to celebrate the new traffic safety equipment that was purchased because of their efforts to improve sidewalk safety around the school. Notre Dame Support Staff secretaries Donna Keeler, Marlene Therres and Nicole Rogers posed beside the Support Staff Appreciation Week display board Apr. 23.
