2014 MCHS TRACK TEAM

The 2014 MCHS Track & Field Team sent 30 athletes to the Zone Meet at Foote Field in Edmonton May 22 and returned with 22 medals. MCHS earned seven gold, 13 silver and six bronze medals in the qualifying meet for the Provincial Track Meet taking place in Calgary June 6 and 7. Fifteen MCHS students qualified for that meet.

Gold medal winners included Justin Kulbisky in the Jr. Boys 100M and 200M, Sydney Herrick in the Jr. Girls Long Jump and Triple Jump, Samantha Ringuette in the Intermediate Girls Javelin, and Emma Newborn in the Sr. Girls High Jump. The team of Katy Krupa, Noemi Morin, Samantha Ringuette and Shayla Kachnic earned the school their seventh gold of the day in the Intermediate Girls 4×100 Relay.

Silver medal winners included Larissa VanBrabant in the Jr. Girls Hurdles and Triple Jump, Noemi Morin in the Intermediate Girls Hurdles, Shayla Kachnic in the Jr. Girls Long Jump, Katy Krupa in the Intermediate Girls High Jump and Discus, Dana VanBrabant in the Intermediate Girls 100M, Justin Kulbisky in the Jr. Boys Long Jump, Keegan Hunt in the Jr. Boys 400M,Randy Glaubitz in the Inter. Boys 400M, Sterling Glaubitz in the Jr. Boys 800M. A Junior Girls 4×100 Relay silver was earned by the team of Sydney Herrick, Shalya Kachnic, Kiana Laliberte and Larissa VanBrabant. The Junior Boys 4×100 Relay team of Justin Kulbisky, Keegan Hunt, Matthew Durocher and Lucas Summerfield also picked up a silver.

MCHS also picked up a number of bronze medals. These included Katy Krupa in the Inter. Girls 200M, Keegan Hunt for the Jr. Boys 200M, Brandon Dubrule in the Inter. Boys 800M, Sterling Glaubitz for the Jr. Boys 400M and Brandon Arbour for the Inter. Boys Discus and Javelin.
