Morinville – Three red-hot comedians lit up a crowd of 220 people at the Morinville Community Culture Centre Friday night for the Library Comedy Show. This fundraising event effectively kicked off the Saint Jean Baptiste Festival with a well-delivered series of jokes including burns, zingers and one-liners that left audience members rocking in their seats.

By the time the curtain went up at 8:15 p.m., the performance hall was full of excited people including many regular library patrons looking forward to a night of good company and laughs.

Headliner Lars Callieou, along with Master of Ceremonies and performer Scott Belford showed off their skill and experience, throwing out edgy and honest material that hit home with many Morinville residents. Both were fantastic entertainers, story-tellers as well as comedians, who went above and beyond the call of duty to make the event a resounding success. A stand-up guy all around, Callieou even donated 50 per cent of his CD sales to the library in order to further support the cause.

However, the night’s big surprise came from local up-and-comer Wyatt Zieger, who proved just as talented at making people laugh as he was at dropping jaws.

Overall, the night was great fun for a good cause and the perfect way to start of a weekend of community celebrations.
