Organizational Review Proceeds
Morinville’s Mayor Lisa Holmes had the following to say about Council’s Organizational Review on her Facebook page July 15:
“During the summer months Town Council takes a break from holding formal Council meetings but this year we are continuing to meet for Council workshops every couple of weeks (in person/via teleconference).
“We had our first workshop this morning [Jul. 15] where we received an update on the Organizational Efficiency & Effectiveness Review. This is a project that was brought up many times in the 2013 election by candidates and by both residents and Council members in the 2014 budget process. It was approved as an operational project in the 2014 budget. Council has been leading this project, starting with our approval of the Request for Proposal (RFP) (which is a document outlining the project terms and inviting consultants to submit proposals) on June 24th.
“We are accepting proposals until Jul. 17th and have gotten a lot of interest in this project from consultants from across Canada, the US, India and Australia!
“Over the next few weeks Council will work with the CAO to review the proposals and award the contract. The project should run from August until approx[imately] November with a final report coming to Council on December 2nd, tentatively.
“We will continue to keep everyone updated as we get status reports throughout the summer and early Fall. If you have any questions, let us know: allcouncil@morinville.ca.”
Still time to nominate a gardener
The Town of Morinville’s Best Garden Competition will take place July 30. From unique planters to outdoor living spaces, the Town is looking for residents to nominate themselves or their neighbours. All entries must be received by July 28th at 4:30 pm. Submit entries to Community Services (MCCC) or by contacting Allen Jacobson 780-939-7832 or ajacobson@morinville.ca
Gardens will be judged between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on July 30. Prizes will be awarded. Call Allen for more information.
Big bike coming to town
The Town of Morinville will be bringing the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s BIG BIKE to the 2014 Tour de L’Alberta and are asking people to make a big impact in the lives of Canadian families. You can ride and cheer through your community on the 29-rider bicycle to raise funds and awareness for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The 29 rider bicycle will be on-site at the Ray McDonald Sports Center (9908-107st, Morinville) from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is available for a FUN-RAISING-RIDE (20 minutes or so) at $50 per person.

Summer Camps still on
Parents looking to keep their child busy throughout the summer can do so through a number of unique weekly themed camps. All programs run
Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.You bring your snack and lunch each day. Each week includes activities like crafts, games, field trips and a lot of fun!
Informational handbooks are available at the Community Services Office on the specifics of each camp.
