Break and Enter Charges laid Against Two Edmonton Men

On July 26th, 2014 at approximately 10:00 am Morinville RCMP received a call of a robbery in progress involving firearms at a rural property in Sturgeon County near Morinville, Alberta. Further updates and investigation revealed the nature of the call was an actual break, enter, and theft in progress and not a robbery as initially reported. There were no firearms involved.

Two males were arrested on scene and were identified as Robert Earl MENDOZA and Brent Robert BROERE both of Edmonton, Alberta.

The suspect vehicle was seized by police and is being held for further investigation.

Both men are charged with the following offences:

1) Break, enter, and theft under $5000
2) Possession of stolen property not exceeding $5000
3) Mischief not exceeding $5000
and
4) Possession of Break-in Instruments

BROERE is also charged with an additional offence of driving while disqualified.

BROERE is remanded into custody for a Morinville Provincial Court date of July 31st, 2014 and MENDOZA is currently held in custody on significant cash bail to attend court on the same date.

The investigation is continuing.
