After a four-day training and tryout camp, the Morinville Junior B Jets took to the ice over the weekend for a pre-season tournament at the Ray McDonald Sports Center.

The Jets started the weekend with a game against the Stony Plain Flyers Saturday morning, a contest that ended in a 4-4 draw for the two clubs. Saturday afternoon saw the Jets take on the Leduc Riggers and emerge with the same 4-4 draw at the end of the game.

The Jets were to return to the ice Sunday for two games. Scheduling caused the first game to be dropped and Sunday evening’s game was cancelled after the Merchants dropped out.

The Jets follow the preseason tournament with a Sept. 13 road trip to Cold Lake for an exhibition game.

The 2014-2015 Capital Junior Hockey League season starts Sept. 19 for the Jets when they take on the Stony Plain Flyers on the road. The club’s home opener against the St. Albert Merchants is Sept. 21 at 6:45 p.m.

Coaches for the 2014-2015 CJHL season are Trent Brown and Jeff Montina. Montina was with the Jets last season.
