On Sunday September 7th, 2014 at about 3:30 a.m. Morinville RCMP received a complaint of a possible hit and run on Alexander First Nation. It was reported that some time earlier in the morning someone may have been hit by a vehicle while walking on the gravel road about 2 km north of Hwy 642 on Range Road 272 at Alexander First Nation. Police attended the scene and found a male from Alexander in the ditch. EMS were called to the scene and the male, 28 yr old Ian CARDINAL from Alexander, was declared dead at the scene.
Morinville RCMP members remain in the community dealing with the family and continuing to investigate this incident. There have been no suspects identified at this time. It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in this collision. Road conditions were good at the time.
