The Morinville Lions Club 65th Anniversary celebration held at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre Saturday night featured the roast of former Morinville Fire Chief Ron Cust.

Roastmaster Paul Smith started the evening with comedic insults, praise, a number of stories of varying authenticity, and a heart-warming tribute to the man of the hour and his many qualities.

Surrounded by family and friends, acquaintances, fans and well wishers Cust took hits and jabs from roasters Jerry Gaetz, Wyatt Zieger, Ed Bulger, and Stephen Dafoe, as well as a childhood friend who took some shots from the floor during the open mic portion of the roast.

While Cust took the pokes and prods in good stride, he gave as good as he got when it was his turn to turn the tables on those roasting him.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Alberta Fire and Injury Reduction Safety Trailer.
