Capital Region Board visits
Legal Council held their regular meeting Jan. 20 with a small agenda.
St Albert Mayor Nolan Crouse, Capital Region Board (CRB) chair, and
Malcolm Bruce, the CRB’s new CEO attended the meeting to bring Council up to date on CRB activities.
Crouse said the board has reached out to municipalities in a road show type program over the past few months.
The CRB chair’s recap included what the CRB and its committees are doing as not all municipalities participate in all projects.
The CRB was formed to deal with regional matters after the disolving of the Alberta Capital Regional Alliance (ACRA). The organization deals with four areas: making sure there is market affordable housing process, thinking and planning in the region, making pubic transport in region especially in municipalities, and making sure land planning in region and also putting in place geographic system for region.
“In the last five to six years lots of work has been put in these categories,” Crouse said. “[In the] last few weeks there has been an agreement to go towards economic development.” The board has given staff direction to work at an Administrative level with local CEOs, Chambers of Commerce so they can mutually benefit.
The discussion touched on the Legal Lions’ bus and transportation and transit and seniors. Transit is one of the areas the CRB is involved in.
Concerto to include St.Paul
Legal has been invited to St. Paul’s Concerto Celebration. The community is the ninth to join the Conseil de developpement economique de l’Alberta’s (CDEA), an association of communities of French heritage, joined together for economic opportunities.
