Local Scouts will pick up their torches Wednesday night for Scouting’s annual torchlight parade.
The event honours Scouting’s founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, who in addition to being the founder of the Scouting movement, was a lieutenant-general in the British Army. He served in India and Africa from 1876 until 1910. The scouting founder is believed to have started the movement in 1907 while on a camping trip with some local youth.
1st Morinville Scouting will march through Cardiff park with their torches to celebrate Baden-Powell in particular and the movement he started, in general.
Songs, skits and cheers follow the annual torchlight march.
