Local Scouts to march in honour of their founder

Local Scouts will pick up their torches Wednesday night for Scouting’s annual torchlight parade.

The event honours Scouting’s founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, who in addition to being the founder of the Scouting movement, was a lieutenant-general in the British Army. He served in India and Africa from 1876 until 1910. The scouting founder is believed to have started the movement in 1907 while on a camping trip with some local youth.

1st Morinville Scouting will march through Cardiff park with their torches to celebrate Baden-Powell in particular and the movement he started, in general.

Songs, skits and cheers follow the annual torchlight march.

The event takes place at Cardiff Park Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. for more information contact Adam at adam.roddis@dignitymemorial.com or Mitch at meethier@xplornet.com.
