Cancelled game gives Kings series

by Stephen Dafoe

Friday the 13th was a lucky day for the Morinville Senior AA Kings. Standing 2-1 with the Slave Lake Winter Hawks, a bout of bad weather cancelled game four, which was to be played in Slave Lake. The cancellation gave the Kings the opening series of playoffs.

Kings President Wayne Gatza said Saturday the league had decided that any cancelled games in the best-of-five series would result in the league shifting the series to a best-of-three matchup.

Friday’s cancelled game caused exactly that situation, and gave the Kings series one at 2-1 over Slave Lake.
The Kings will take some down time this week before moving on to the second series of playoffs. The Kings are poised to take on their rivals, The Davon Barons starting Saturday night.

Game time for the first game in the bast-of-five playoff series is 8:30 p.m. in Morinville.
