Snowy fun

The Annual Snow-Pitch Tournament in aid of Morinville Youth Basketball took place Feb. 14 at Cardiff Hall.

The event mixes strange costumes, bats, beer and backwards slow-pitch rules to make for a great fundraising opportunity for young local basketball players.

Wolves play home tourny

The Morinville Community High School Senior Wolves basketball team took part in a home tournament over the weekend.

The Wolves handily defeated the Edwin Parr Predators Friday afternoon in the opening game, advancing from an 18-10 first quarter lead to a 34-19 lead at the half. The Wolves piled on another 23 points int he third quarter to lead 57-28. The Sr. Boys ended the game 80-36.

The Boys fell 40-38 to Louis St. Laurent in game two, putting them in the bronze-medal game against Queen Elizabeth. The Sr. boys lost that game 83-47.

Off to Winter Games

Angeline Majeau, Carol Kaup and Guy Meunier have all qualified to represent Zone 5 in the 2015 Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games to be held in Lethbridge Feb. 19 to 22. Kaup and Majeau, along with team mates Ollie Waschuk and Marian Ostopchuk, are on the same 65 plus ladies curling team. Guy Meunier will be participating in the over 55 with Legal team mates Norm Rivard, Dan Rivard and Darcy Brisson.
