Police get wanted man

Morinville RCMP’s General Investigation Section and Morinville RCMP General Duty Members, with the assistance of St. Albert RCMP Police Dog Section and support services from RCMP “K” Division Headquarters, captured a man who had been evading police for more than two years Feb. 18.

Thirty-eight-year-old Ronald Sparling of Gibbons, Alberta, who walked away from an Edmonton halfway house, was wanted on a number of charges out of Edmonton, Stony Plain / Spruce Grove and Morinville, including being unlawfully at large.

Sparling was located at a Bon Accord gas station where he was taken into custody and is facing an additional charge of resisting arrest.

Sparling has been remanded into custody and will be appearing in Stony Plain Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. Mar. 4, 2015.
