Kings leading best-of-five series

by Stephen Dafoe

The Morinville Kings are 2-1 in a best-of-five series with the Devon Barons. After an opening game loss, the Kings took games two and three by a good margin over the weekend.

Friday night’s road game to Devon saw the Kings take the contest 7-3. That win was built from an impressive first period 6-0 lead. Though the Barons would answer back with the period’s only two goals in the middle frame, a goal apiece in the final period would give the Kings the win and tie the series at a game apiece.

Saturday night’s home-ice showdown was a closer margin.

The Kings dominated the opening frame 2-1 and 15 shots to 8. The Barons goal came with 2.5 seconds left on the clock. The second period Saw the Kings built on their first period lead with another three goals to the Barons single entry. Leading the game 5-2, the Kings added their final goal with 3:22 left in the game.

Game four will be played in Morinville Saturday night at 7:30. Game 5 (if needed) will be played Sunday night in Devon. Game time is set for 6:45 p.m.
