It was an active weekend for sports in Morinville Mar. 19 – 22. Hockey, basketball, and curling was on the list.

Jump Rope for Heart
Gracie Arcand demonstrates some jump rope moves she spent a week working on. Ecole Notre Dame School held their Jump Rope for Heart event on Mar. 20. The gym was packed with parents, friends, and family members to watch the more than 140 students perform 20 various jump rope techniques. Gym teacher Tina McKinnon said they had raised more than $7,000 as of Friday but that more money was to come in.

Hooper star
Primeau student Jaydalyn Smith won Districts in the Knights of Columbus Basketball Shooting Competition and was off to Regionals over the weekend to compete for Georges H. Primeau School. The event took place at St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Edmonton. The K of C Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through local, district and provincial competitions. International champions are announced by the K of C headquarters based on scores from the province-level competitions.

All boys and girls compete in their respective age and gender divisions. Results were not available by our press deadline.

4 the Love of the Game

The SHC 2 Mustangs took on the Wabamun Wildcats in Morinville Thursday night, the opening night of the 18th Annual Dennis Blair Borduzak Memorial Tournament. The four-day tournament saw 16 teams take to the ice in Morinville and Legal. Final games were played Sunday afternoon at the two arenas.

Wolves finish 9th in province

The MCHS Wolves Sr. Girls finished their basketball season with a 26-5 record and a 9th-place standing in the province.

After taking zones the weekend before, the Sr. Girls went to Taber for provincials and ended their run with a 51-32 win over the Wetaskiwin Sabres in their final game.
