The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been directed by the Director of Law Enforcement to investigate an RCMP officer-involved shooting.
Morinville RCMP members were called to a person in distress event in remote rural Morinville, near Range Road 263 at approximately 8:40 p.m., May 22.
There was a discharge of a firearm by the RCMP and one adult male suspect was fatally shot.
No other details are available at this time as to why the suspect was shot.
The RCMP has fully contained the scene and there is no threat to the safety of the public.
No other persons, police or public, have been injured.
