RBC presents first of three community donations

On Wednesday night members of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Morinville Branch presented a $1000 cheque to the Morinville Community Library. RBC will also be presenting $1000 cheques to Nature Kids and the Morinville Museum over the next week.

RBC employees and clients promote responsible water use through the Blue Water Project, an awareness program. In this regard, RBC is proud to provide support to the Morinville Community Library who has assisted RBC in bringing Awareness to the program.

Morinville Community Library Assistant Manager Cheryl Pasechnik said the money would go towards the Harry Potter-themed Summer Reading Program.

The cheque was presented by RBC Branch Manager Carmen Dubas at the library in front of a water barrel painted by the Library staff. The rain barrel will be at the bank for Blue Water Day on Thursday.

A water presentation was made to children and parents attending the library’s Lego Club Wednesday night. Dubas quizzed children about where water comes from, who is responsible for the protection of drinking water and the use of reusable water bottles. Prizes were awarded.

Launched in 2007, the RBC Blue Water project is a $50 million 10-year global commitment to help protect fresh water. RBC has pledged more than $41 million to more than 700 charitable organizations worldwide that protects watersheds and promote access to clean drinking water with an additional $8.8 million to universities for water programs.
