Stand up comedians Mike Dambra (left) and Ken Hicks (above) performed at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre June 19 during the Library Comedy Show. Hicks provided 30-minutes of comedy about family life and the need to “see the funny in life.” Dambra, the headliner, took endless shots at the community and audience members in his rapid-fire 45-minute set. The annual fundraiser drew about 110 people. In addition to being a fundraiser, the annual comedy show aligns with the library’s goal of providing outside-the-library programing.

Planting helpers

Annabella (6) and Seth (2) Boisvert help their mom plant some plants at Lafarge’s Ready-Mix Plant outside Morinville. The local company invited local Girl Guides and their families to a barbecue and garden planting. This was the third year that they have joined Lafarge’s biodiversity efforts to plant a pollinator garden. The girls receive community service badges for helping to pollinate, and beautify the neighborhood.

  1. Following a fine Green Bean pasta buffet, we attended the Library Comedy Show and believe me, those who missed this really missed a hilarious time – right Pickle?

Many thanks to the sponsors of this event, one which I look forward to attending in the future.
