At approximately. 8:35 p.m. Wednesday night, Morinville RCMP members were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Highway 2, just south of the Highway 2 and Secondary Highway 642 overpass.
Witness information indicated a lone male riding a motorcycle was merging onto Highway 2, south bound, when he lost control and crashed into the west ditch.
Emergency Services personnel, including STARS, attended the scene and began life saving efforts, however the driver, a 33 year old Edmonton male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation and road conditions are not considered to be a contributing factor.
