Police search warrant results in drug bust

by Morinville News Staff

Morinville RCMP revealed Sunday afternoon a search warrant conducted Thursday morning resulted in the seizure of 54 marijuana plants and the arrest of two males.

Police conducted the search at around 9 a.m. Aug. 20 at a rural property northwest of the Town of Morinville in Sturgeon County.

“Although producers only see a fraction of the dollars paid for drugs on the street the maximum potential for this grow [of 54 plants] would be $240,000 dollars for each yield,” said Corporal Sheldon Robb in a release Sunday afternoon.

Police say one person stands charged currently for production of marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana.

Police did not release the name of the male charged wit the offence.
