Lions gather to share funds and appreciation

The Morinville Lions Club held their first meeting for the new fiscal year Sept. 14 with a cheque presentation and recognition of club members. Proceeds from the 9th Annual Lions Golf Tournament were divided between the Alberta Cancer Foundation and Camp He Ho Ha, with each group receiving $1600. Joan Nielsen of Camp Health Hope Happiness accepted the cheque on their behalf.

The evening also included a number of presentations expressing the group’s appreciation of members and local businesses. Ron Fylyshtan of Noah’s Ark Pets & Supplies was presented a Certificate of Appreciation for his business’ sponsorship of the free community brakfast at August’s Country Fair and other invaluable services extended to the club. Members Dustin Greenwood and Marty and Deborah Robillard were presented Certifcates of Appreciation for their service to the club, including cooking breakfast, sponsoring last summer’s Motorcycle Toy Run, and being Santa Claus at the event. Pins were also presented to a number of members for completion of their term in their roles as Committee members.
