Letter: Council excited to more forward with rec project

On Tuesday, September 15, 2015, the Town of Morinville Council passed a resolution to award the Architectural & Professional Services contract to Architecture | Tkalcic Bengert (Arch|TB) for the Town of Morinville Recreation Project.

This is one of many exciting steps in the process. Morinville Council has extended invitations to neighbouring Councils from Bon Accord, Legal, Gibbons, Redwater, St. Albert and Sturgeon County as well as the Chief from Alexander First Nations and the Edmonton Garrison Base Commander to share information on the recreation project, gather input and discuss opportunities.

Mr. Brian Bengert, the partner-in-charge of this project from Arch|TB, who is also a resident of Sturgeon County, will be introduced at the October 15, 2015 meeting in order to get involved at the ground level.
While these discussions are very important to the community, not all of the details can be discussed in public.

Council continues to work with potential partners to discuss this project and look at how they can be involved.
With Arch|TB in place, a stakeholder user-group meeting with all user groups in attendance will be scheduled for October. This meeting will allow Council to update everyone on where we are at in the process, to discuss any questions and get involved with the Arch|TB team. Members of the various user-groups will be informed of the date once it is finalized. It will also be advertised in the local papers, on the Town website and social media platforms.

Council also recently passed a motion to expand the Recreation Project Steering Committee to include at a minimum
one member from each of the seven user groups. Representation will be discussed at the upcoming meeting in October.
An interactive public forum has been launched on the Town of Morinville website in which the community can comment,
provide suggestions and discuss various topics. Everyone is also welcome to email any member of Council with comments, or buildingourfuture@morinville.ca.

We hope you are excited about this project and continue to be involved in the process as it moves forward.

Sincerely,

Lisa Holmes, Mayor
