It’s gold for the Wolves

It was a double row of Wolves receiving gold medals Saturday night after a two-day home court tournament. Both the MCHS Junior Boys and Girls teams were victorious in the gold-medal finals, played simultaneously in the school’s gymnasium.

Junior Boys

The Boys took R.S. Fowler in the opening game Friday 25-19 and 25-15, and pressed on to take out Edwin Parr Composite 25-9 and 25-11 an hour later.

The boys first game Saturday morning saw them defeat Devon’s Riverview Middle School 25-13 and 25-10 and moving on to defeat R.F. Staples 25-21 and 25-13. The next game against Pembina North Community School was pushed to a third set. In that contest, the Boys took the first 25-20 but fell 25-23 in the second. The decider was a 15-10 finish for Morinville.

The boys faced Pembina North in the gold-medal game, defeating them 25-14 and 25-18.

Junior girls

The Junior Girls also swept the weekend, taking out R.S. Fowler 25-19 and 25-21 in their first game, and Edwin Parr 25-18 and 25-8 in the second game.

Saturday saw the girls sweep through Riverview 25-10/25-18, Pembina North 25-9/25-13, and R.F. Staples 26-24/25-14.

The girls took on the R.S. Fowler Falcons in the gold-medal match. In that contest, the Wolves won 25-23 and 25-12.
