Kings struggle to find points early in

by Morinville News Staff

The Morinville Senior AA Kings have earned three points in four games this season after one win, two losses and one point for Saturday night’s impressive come back against the Slave Lake Winter Hawks.

The Kings started Saturday’s home-ice contest trailing 5-1, but narrowed the gap to 5-4 by the end of the second period. Joshua Lafleche brought the game to a 5-5 tie with 16:40 left off an assist from Riley Miller and Brayden Arcand.

The contest went to a shootout with three shooters on each side and Morinville pocketing two entries to Slave Lake’s three.

Although in fifth place in the NCHL North Division, there is still a lot of season left and the Kings trail three teams by a single point.

The club takes to the road Nov. 7 to face the Rocky Rams and to Westlock Nov. 13 to face the Warriors. They return to home ice Nov. 21 to face Devon at 8:30 p.m.
