The Town’s new community bus has arrived. The project was included in 2015’s Capital Budget at $110,000 and has been completed with only a minor delay related to damage to one of the seats, an issue that will be dealt with quickly before the vehicle is in full operation.

According to a Town Facebook post published Jan. 14, the new bus features top grab handle on top of the seats to assist in getting in and out of seats, upgraded leatherette seats for easy cleaning and durability, retractable seat belts, gas-fired interior heater to keep the interior warm and an upgraded air conditioning system, an oversized rear luggage compartment, luggage shelves, inverter and power outlets to each passenger seat. Additionally, the bus is equipped with a 1000 pound lift, in-floor insulation for sound, and an interior camera system.

The community bus is operated by the Town and provides services to transport residents both within and outside the community.

Some of the more frequent riders are residents of the town’s retirement communities.

Aspen house residents and media will be given a look at the bus Monday, just as it goes into full service for community members.
