The Morinville Senior AA Kings came from behind on a 3-2 first-period deficit to win the day 8-5 over the visiting Whitecourt Wild Saturday night.

Though the Kings were guaranteed a playoff spot win or lose, the two points earned from Saturday night’s victory give the senior AA club an 8-7-1 record to end the North Central Hockey League regular season.

The club picked up three goals in the middle frame to lead the Wild 5-3 heading into the final frame. The final period saw the Kings advance to a 6-4 lead in the final minutes before pocketing another pair into an empty net. Whitecourt’s final goal would prove to be too little too late.

Saturday’s win puts the Kings on the road to playoffs. The club will face the Tofield Satellites in the first round.

Playoff time and location was not available by our press deadline; however, the games are to start this weekend.
