Jets drop one on the road

by Morinville News Staff

The Morinville Jets dropped a 3-2 decision to the Capital Junior Hockey League’s (CJHL) bottom-ranked Spruce Grove Regals on the road Sunday night.

The Jets ended the first period trailing the Regals 1-0 after giving up a goal early in the frame when they were down a man. But the club turned it around in the second period with a pair of goals, one on a man advantage, to lead the game 2-1. Despite taking ten chances in the final frame, the Jets failed to capitalize on any of them. After tying the contest early in the period, the Regals earned their game-winning goal with 3:17 left on the clock.

Sunday’s defeat brings the Jets to a 13-17-2 record this season and a near impossible chance of rising above fifth place in the CJHL’s West Division.

The Jets play the Hawks at home Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. and travel to Sherwood Park Friday to take on the Knights. The return home to face the Flyers Sunday night at 6:45 p.m.
