Albertans looking forward to camping on the May long weekend will be able to book regular campsites through Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca (RAP) starting Feb. 22 at 9 a.m.

Group campsite bookings will begin Feb. 8 and comfort camping bookings will begin Feb. 16.

“The reservation system is a popular innovation that continues to grow and provide an important service to our camping community,” said Shannon Phillips, Minister of Environment and Parks i a release Thursday. “I like that it allows users to preplan their camping experience and escape into our provincial parks system long before summer’s arrival.”

Alberta Parks will once again offer staggered reservation times by region for regular campsites. Regular campsites bookings are 90 days in advance. The Feb. 22 opening allows campers to book for the May long weekend.

RAP regular campsite reservation time openings are as follows: South region at 9 a.m., Kananaskis Country at 11 a.m., Central region at 1 p.m., and Northwest/East region at 3 p.m.

The RAP system has enhanced offerings this year, including the addition of new campgrounds, group sites, and comfort camping.

The system allows access to 70 provincial campgrounds with more than 6,000 campsites, 154 group camping areas, and 32 comfort camping units.
