The feds launched a new free Pesticide Labels app Jan. 25 that will allow users to access registered Canadian pesticide labels.

“Canadians using pesticides, whether for controlling pests around the home or in agricultural settings need to be able to access up-to-date safety information,” said The Honourable Jane Philpott,
Minister of Health, in a Jan. 25 release. “This app can help Canadians know and understand how to use pest control products properly to protect health and the environment.”

The pesticide database includes searches by product name, chemical, pest and other criteria. In addition to looking up the info, app users will be able to save their searches and download product labels for offline access.

The Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, sees the app as a useful tool to help farmers incorporate real time best management practices.

“The app will provide accurate and readily available information on pesticide use to producers, helping them continue to be good stewards of the land,” the minister said int he Jan. 25 release.

The app is available from Google Play and the iTunes App Store.
