After a rough 7-1 loss to the Tofield Satellites Jan. 23, the Morinville Kings fell 7-5 in Game 2 of their best-of-five playoff series at home Jan. 30.

The Kings 7-5 loss made for an all-or-nothing situation for the Kings on the road Sunday night. But the club pulled of a 5-2 win to keep the series alive.

Despite having some key players back on the bench Saturday night, the Kings trailed Tofield 3-1 and 6-2 before coming back with three in a row in the final frame to bring the game to 6-5 in Tofield’s favour. With 4:17 left, the Satellites pocketed another, and Morinville was not able to add the two they needed to keep the game going.

The Kings hit the road Sunday night for Game 3. After leading the contest 1-0 at the end of the opening frame, the Kings found themselves tied 2-2 at the end of the second. But the Kings kept the Satellites scoreless in the final period while pocketing three more to take the game 5-2.

The Kings need to win the next two to keep their playoff dreams alive.

Game 4 will be played in Morinville Feb. 6 at 8:30 p.m. Game 5 will take place in Tofield on Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m.
