Jets end season with a loss

The Morinville Jets ended the 2015-2016 Capital Junior Jockey League season with a 5-1 pounding at the hands of the visiting Beaumont Chiefs. Sunday night’s home-ice, season wrap up loss gave the Jets a 15-20-3 in a season that saw the club playing below .500 for most of the season.

Sunday night’s game saw the Jets only goal of the game come in the middle frame when Lee Gadoury sank one off assists from Joshua Perrott and Scott Woloshyn at 13:00.

Both clubs were scoreless in the first, but the club trailed Beaumont 3-1 at the end of the second, with two of Beaumont’s three goals earned on the powerplay. The Jets were scoreless in the third period while Beaumont pocketed two, one of those on a powerplay opportunity.

The Jets gave up 55 powerplay goals this season, the most int he West Division, and second only in the league to the Beaumont Chiefs.

Sunday night’s loss places the Jets in fifth place in the West Division, which will pair the Jets with the Beverly Warriors in round one of playoffs. The St. Albert Merchants who ended the season in third place will face the sixth-place Stony Plain Flyers. No details are available yet on when those playoff games will occur.
