More than 400 attended the 24th Annual Morinville Fish and Game Association (MFGA) Brag Night Mar. 12.

mfag4MFGA spokesperson Joe Sinclair said the association is grateful for the support it receives from the community businesses and individuals that enable MFGA to enhance wildlife habitats, improve the facilities at Narrow Lake Conservation Camp, send kids to camp, and help support Camp HeHoHa Disabled Fishing Day.

“Because of your support our clubhouse was built this year, and the Grand Opening was held in February,” he said.
The annual Brag Night combines a wild game supper with a live and silent auction. On the menu for this year’s event was deep fried turkey, venison meatballs and gravy, elk roast, moose meatloaf, roast pheasant, smoked salmon, perogies and other game entries.

This year’s silent auction had more than 260 items and 31 live auction items, the latter drawing some bids in the thousands. Total raised at the event was not available by our press deadline.

In addition to the food and auction, the Association handed out a number of trophies.

Anastasia Bochar received the award for Youth Pike this year, Allan Johnston for Adult White Tail. Lynae DeRudder won a pair of trophies: the Ladies Highest Score and Adult Mule Deer. Jodi McKale accepted the Youth Walleye award on behalf of her son Sam McKale. Dylan DeRudder took the Adult Walleye trophy, and Justin DeRudder won for the Adult Pike. Unable to attend to pick up his award was Don McLachlan for the Annual Moose trophy and Scenic Photography award.

Joe Sinclair accepted the MFGA Award on behalf of all the club’s members. The club as a whole was the recipient to show club appreciation for all the hard work and dedication that helped make the dream of a clubhouse a reality.
