Police nab three with stolen property

by Morinville News Staff

A Barrhead man and woman and a man from Clyde were arrested Monday and each charged with eight counts of possession of stolen property not exceeding $5000 and one count of possession of break-in instruments.

Morinville RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in a residential area in the Town of Morinville in the early morning hours of Mar. 14. Police say the suspects were entering unlocked vehicles and stealing various contents from inside. Morinville RCMP was able to locate the suspect vehicle quickly and apprehend the two adult males and one adult female.

Police have not released the names of the arrested trio and Morinville News has not been able to reach RCMP for additional comment on the file.

The Morinville RCMP are thanking the public for calling in the suspicious activity. As a result, stolen property from the Barrhead, Westlock, and Spruce Grove areas was recovered.

Police are once again reminding residents to make sure doors are locked when the vehicle is left, especially if the vehicle will be left alone for a while. They advise storing small items like sunglasses, money, and electronics in either the console or the glove compartment, so it isn’t in plain view from outside. It is preferred to remove items altogether

RCMP also recommend covering any left behind items with a jacket or blanket, anything that would make it hard to see.

  1. Lay a licking on them and write it up as they fell out of the vehicle. I mean it.

  2. Yes lock your doors, but they should have increased penalties for those that have loose morals and decide someone else’s property is theirs for the taking.
