Public Notice: Fire Ban issued for the Town of Morinville

The Morinville Fire Department is issuing a fire ban which prohibits open burning, fireworks, back yard fire pits, cooking stoves in parks and BBQs using solid fuels.

With the prolonged hot, dry and windy conditions, and taking into consideration the Fire Weather Index, which has categorized our area as extreme, it has been determined that we take the necessary precautions to keep our citizens safe.

The ban will remain in effect until further notice. The Morinville Fire Department will continue to monitor conditions and the Fire Weather Index to determine the extent of the fire ban. Anyone who does not comply with the terms of the ban may be subject to the fines and charges set out by the town’s Fire Service Bylaw, Schedule A. This may also include covering costs for emergency services.

Sincerely,

Brad Boddez
Fire Chief
Morinville Fire Department

  1. With all this devastation going on in Fort Mac, there’s no way I can even think of having a fire right now! But I’m glad this has been issued.

  2. Please please be very careful with your cigarette butts and don’t throw them out of the car while driving. On Tuesday I stomped out a small ditch fire thanks to s lovely guy driving on 2 and his butt.
