Town ready to bike the trails and rock the rails

The Town of Morinville announced last week is would be hosting the inaugural year for Bike the Trails; Rock the Rails, a new family event taking place June 12 that appears to replace the Family Ride that was a popular part of the annual Tour de l’Alberta event. The Edmonton Touring and Bicycle Club decided to move to Beaumont this year after many years in Morinville.

The new local offering gives participants a choice between a 20-kilometre ride or a 5-km family fun ride. Additionally, the Town us planning a Preschool Obstacle Course, Rock the Rails event with skateboard tricks, riding time, demos and DJ jams. There will also be a Burger BBQ sponsored by Morinville Town Council.

The Ride the Trails portion runs June 12 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and the Preschool Obstacle Course runs from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Bike Olympics will run from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The BBQ runs at the same time. Skateboard activities and DJ entertainment will run from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

All events take place at the Morinville Fish and Game Association Pond on 107 Street.
