Morinville Public Library opening on Mondays for July and August

The Morinville Public Library Board is pleased to announce the library will now be open seven-days-a-week over the next two months, thanks to a $4,500 grant awarded by the Town of Morinville Council (effective July 4).

Since January 2016, the Morinville Public Library (MPL) has been closed on Mondays due to insufficient funding. The grant awarded to MPL will cover the costs associated with operating on Mondays for the months of July and August.

“This is fantastic news,” said Library Board Chair, Amy Guenette. “We’re so happy there will be a place for residents, especially kids, to go in Town—any day of the week—to enjoy programming, take out books and movies, or just to come spend time in a community space.”

Morinville’s Council voted unanimously to support a motion made by Councillor Stephen Dafoe on June 14 to grant the one-time payment to MPL so it could specifically be used to open on Mondays.

“We’re really very happy to be able to open on Mondays for the summer,” remarked MPL’s Assistant Manager Cheryl Pasechnik. “The library is a hub in the community and making it available to people through the entire week is something we’ve heard from our patrons is really important to them.”

Morinville Public Libary Summer Hours are:

• Monday to Thursday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Fridays: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Sundays: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
• Holidays: CLOSED

The last day of MPL’s summer hours is: August 31, 2016.
